this is an excellent page. i want to meet other siddles with this interest, i found out that the symbol on our coat of arms is ugaritic cuneiform for S, the language that had the first ever alphabet. ive also found 8 other coats of arms that are exactly the same as the siddles but with a different design on the shield, 2 of which come up on a google search when you type oldest coat of arms and one is said to be from the 1300s. i honestly think that the siddle coat of arms is the first ever coat of arms. ive had an arguement with sir andrew siddle over this when he tried to tell me it was a coal miners thing and the symbols on the sheild were carpenters centre punches, i told him its cuneiform for S, S for siddle but he didnt reply again, there are many other coats of arms that have 3 symbols arranged in an upsidedown triangle but on our (continental type)sheild (oldest) it means S, taking this and the fact ours has been copied by 8 other families into account im saying that i think that ours is the first ever coat of arms.
